FAIR

noun —  a gathering of people to buy and sell and to exhibit animal, articles of produce, etc. About 1250 feire; borrowed from Old French feire, from Vulgar Latin *feria holida, market fair, corresponding to Latin feriae (religious festival, holiday; see FEAST. – fairground n. (1855, fairgrounds)
