Sagip-Aklatan sa Salapan


While many of us seem to have moved on from the desolation that Ondoy has caused last year, there are some people and places in the country that unfortunately, are still adjusting from the damages it brought. Not too far from Xavier School is Salapan Elementary School, located in S. Veloso St., Salapan, San Juan City.

In our continuing efforts to help those who were affected by the calamity, Xavier School, led by the HS Student Council, in cooperation with the HS Student Activities and Programs, Physical Plant Office, and the Integrated Learning Resource Center, is inviting everyone to participate in SAGIP-AKLATAN SA SALAPAN, a book drive that aims to restore the Salapan Elementary School Library.

All students, parents, faculty and staff, are encouraged to donate any, but not limited to the following:  

  • children’s picture books, children’s fiction and non-fiction books, early readers, teacher books for school libraries
  • children’s dictionaries (English and Filipino), thesauri, encyclopedias, atlases, and other reference materials
  • textbooks in Math, English, Geography, and Science at appropriate level
  • original educational DVDs/VCDs/CDs
  • educational toys and manipulatives
  • maps, globes, charts, flash cards
  • OHP screen and projector

The book drive will run from February 1 – 19, 2010.

Each classroom will be provided with a drop box. However, parents may opt to place resources at the following designated areas: Gate 2, 3 & 4.

Donated materials must be labeled with the following information: student’s name, grade/year/section, date.

Donated materials from designated areas will be collected by the HS Student Council members at the end of each day.

All materials will be sorted by class. The class/individual in the following categories will be awarded: 

  • EED (Nursery and Prep)
  • Primary (Grades 1-4)
  • Intermediate (Grades 5-7)
  • HS – 1 FREE Variety Show ticket for every 20 books donated; 1 FREE Fair ticket for every 10 books donated; free tickets may be claimed at the HS SAP Office
  • Faculty and Staff

Status of donated materials will be posted on this website at the end of each week.

The class with the most number of points will be declared winners.

Awarding will be held on March 1, 2010 during the assembly. (GS)
